elisabethericson asked: Are there any plans for a "bookmark" or "wish list" feature? In other words, if you'd like to borrow a book but don't want to request it until you know you'll have time to read it, will it be possible to flag it for future reference? I'm currently keeping my "to read" in Evernote, but having it integrated into Lendle would be far more streamlined.
Elisabeth found the post that contains the answer to her question — problem solved! — but because we really love our implementation of the wish list concept, and because we still see a lot of requests for a wish list feature, we’re going to go ahead and answer her question.
When we were thinking about how to implement a wish list, we decided 1) we didn’t want a “me too” implementation and 2) we wanted to make it a great Patron-only feature.
We took the core concept — “I want to read this book eventually, but for now, I just want to make a record of the fact that I want to read it eventually” — and turned it into:
Book My Spot
As a Patron, if I click the “book it” button for a given book, I join the queue for that book. If there are 40 people in line, I move up a spot each time a request is fulfilled, just as though I had requested the book. When I get to the number one spot, if I’m still not ready, I hold my number one position until I formally request the book. What’s more, we actually hold back a lendable copy of the book until that formal request comes through.
You can wait as long as you like, and book a spot for as many books as you like. And, of course, we’ll keep track of everything on your requests page.
